Utilized in over 600 plants and packaging producers in 32 countries running in 18 languages, the Kiwiplan software suite includes over 17 applications used in virtually every step of the order management and packaging manufacturing process, thus empowering these manufacturers to increase throughput, efficiency and on-time delivery while reducing costs, downtime and waste.
With scheduling solutions as the cornerstone of Kiwiplan products and a development office of 160+ staff in New Zealand and sales and support offices worldwide, Kiwiplan continuously creates new products to meet customers’ needs. In the last few years while significantly growing its traditional corrugated footprint, Kiwiplan has expanded into additional packaging segments including folding carton, rigid and flexible plastic manufacturing, and more. Significant milestones in 2010 include:
- Direct connectivity on the factory floor - Over 50 transmission links automatically download order details, setup requirements, schedule information and more to a wide-range of machinery and controllers on the factory floor. Production data and quality information are uploaded providing detailed, real-time information enterprise-wide.
- Improved Quality Management – Installed in over 130 packaging plants worldwide, Quality Management System (QMS) enables producers to automate and streamline the quality management process, eliminate paperwork and respond proactively to quality issues.
- Significant cost reductions through Roll Stock Analyses – Kiwiplan has performed over 600 analyses of corrugated manufacturers with an expected annual cost savings of $50K to $1M.
- Sustained cost savings - The Supply Chain Simulator (SCS) provides additional and sustained roll stock cost savings by eliminating costs related to ordering roll stock based on consumption. Monthly, SCS simulates the production cycle and determines the exact roll stock required to optimize side trim, web width and productivity at the corrugator. Additional tools can analyze order mix, business constraints, manufacturing capability and more in advance and determine the expected, achievable costs or savings. Over 100 plants are utilizing the Kiwiplan SCS software.
